• What is Mevlana Exchange Program?
Mevlana Exchange Program is a Program which enables exchange of academic staff and students between domestic and foreign higher education institutions. With the regulation published August 23, 2011 (num:28034), students and academic staff exchange between higher education intuitions and higher education institutions of other countries has been possible. Different from other exchange Programs, Mevlana Exchange Program includes all higher education institutions in the world regardless of their region.
Students may study abroad for one (minimum)or two (maximum) terms and academic staff may lecture abroad from one week (minimum) to three months (maximum). Accordingly, students and academic staff from any country may benefit from this Program being hosted by Turkish higher education institutions in order to study or lecture.
• Who can benefit from Mevlana Exchange Program?
The students registered in formal education Programs in Associate Degree, B.A, M.A and PhD level at higher education institutions in Turkey (on condition that the higher education institutions signed a bilateral Mevlana Exchange Protocol) may benefit from Mevlana Exchange Program. Additionally, all academic staff who works in a national or foreign higher education institution, on condition that the higher education institutions signed a bilateral Mevlana Exchange Protocol, may benefit from Mevlana Exchange Program.
In the scope of mobility, academic activities of academic staff cannot be less than total six hours weekly. In hourly calculation of the activities performed by academic staff, courses are considered. If course hours do not complete six hours, academic activities like seminars, panels or conferences are evaluated in this context. Academic staff mobility plans which do not contain lectures shall not be considered within Mevlana Exchange Program and accepted for the exchange.
• Application Requirements of Mevlana Exchange Program
The requirements for being a Mevlana Exchange Program Student are:
- to be studying at associate degree, bachelor degree, master degree or PhD degree of higher education Programs,
- Grade point average (GPA) of associate degree and undergraduate students must be at least 2,5 on a four point scale,
- Grade point average (GPA) of graduate students (MA, PhD) must be at least 3.00 on a 4 point scale.
- %50 language score + %50 GPA
The students studying in their first year at associate or bachelor degree and the students of preparation classes and scientific preparation Programs of graduate degrees cannot participate in this Program at their first semester.
• How should anybody having the prerequisites for the Mevlana Exchange Program and wanting to benefit from it make an application?
Students can make their applications through filling in the necessary forms completely and delivering them to Mevlana Exchange Program institution coordination office of the student's registered Turkish higher education institution.
All academic staff working in higher education institutions that signed Mevlana Exchange Program protocol can make their applications to Mevlana Exchange Program institution coordination office as well.
• How many times and how long can we benefit from Mevlana Exchange Program?
Students can benefit from Mevlana Exchange Program at least one semester, at most two semesters. Semester calculation can show an alteration through taking education system into account but total exchange period cannot exceed one academic year.
Mevlana Exchange Program mobility duration of academic staff can be at least one week at most three months for only once in one academic year.
• Does a student that wants to benefit from Mevlana Exchange Program pay tuition?
Students only continue to pay tuition fee that they are obliged to pay to registered formal higher education institution of theirs within the time span in which they are the student of Mevlana Exchange Program. They don't pay an extra tuition fee to the school that they are going to attend in the frame work of exchange Program.
• Does the student participating in the exchange Program have semester a loss?
The lessons' took by student in higher education institution abroad being equivalent to which lessons were expressed clearly participating in the Mevlana Exchange Program and studying in a country that beyond the bounds of Turkey. For that reason, student does not have a semester loss going back to the his country.
• Scholarships within the course of Mevlana Exchange Program time : Issues about students
The other scholarships and higher education credits of students' that participating in the Mevlana Exchange Program continue within the studying period. They continue paying the tuition fee that they are obliged to pay to their own education institution by enrolling their own school. They do not pay a extra tuition fee to school they will attend.
The scholarship amount that will be paid to the students in the course of Program varies taking the economic conditions of countries where students have gone to study into account. Within the scope of Mevlana Exchange Program, in accordance with law No 5102 regarding providing scholarships and education credit to the Higher Education Students, the monthly scholarship that are paid to the B.A students can be increased up to threefold in comparison with the previous one.(with the determined rates of executive committee's of Council of Higher Education)
Within the scope of exchange Program, the students coming from different parts of the world to the Turkish higher education institutions are paid scholarships with the determined rates by executive committee's of Council of Higher Education.
Seventy percent of scholarship amount in payments that will be done to the students is paid on a monthly basis. While the rest of scholarship is being paid to the student, the proportion of the credits of the courses that the student succeeded is compared to the total credits of the obligatory courses.
• Scholarships within the course of Mevlana Exchange Program time : Issues about academic staff
Within the course of Mevlana Exchange Program, in accordance with the law no:6245, according to the provisions of Travel Expense Law, additional course fee can be paid to the academic staff that will be sent to abroad from Turkey. Also, according to the law no:6245 and the no:10 of 2547,academic staff that will come to Turkey from abroad can be paid additional course fee. Executive committee's of Council of Higher Education is entitled to determine the fees of additional courses in terms of the countries and the titles.
